Glass Artist Kris of Krissy Beads
Give us a little personal info if you'd like: I was born & raised in Southern California. I live in the Santa Clarita Valley – just North of L.A. . I married my high school sweetheart, Dwayne. We've been married 22 years and have 3 beautiful children, Eric 21, Jordan 7, and Madison 2 1/2. My studio is located just off my kitchen. Creating beads allows me the incredible opportunity to be home with my children for which I am very grateful. I take care of my elderly grandmother as well so it’s nice to be able to work when I have time and not worry about a demanding boss or specific work schedules.
Tell us a little about what you do: I make lampwork beads. I dabble in jewelry design but find that frustrating at times. I often have to restring my bracelets… once I restrung one 11 times!
I really admire designers who have that kind of patience because I don’t!
When did you first realize your creative outlet in glass and beads? I was introduced to lampwork by my mother-in-law in September of 2003. From the very first moment I made my first bead, I knew lampworking would become my passion. I have come along way since then! My obsession to create beautiful beads is my driving force. Every bead is made from my heart and soul.

What inspires your work? Anything and everything around me. When I’m shopping I might see an exciting color combination or a neat flower I want to try. I also look for what the popular colors for the next season are and make my beads to match.
What do you hope to learn or take up next creatively? I would like to learn more about stringer control and take some classes from master lampworkers that I admire.
Any hobbies besides beading? I love to bowl. My team won first place team championships in Winter 2003.

Tell us what brought you to Ebay. My mother-in-law was selling her lampwork beads on ebay and so I naturally started there with mine in 2004. I joined the Beadhive shortly after I started selling.
Are there any accomplishments or events in your life that you are particularly proud of that you would like other people to learn about you in your bio? I am really just a mom and an artist. I take great pride in my family and am so blessed to have a wonderful husband who supports everything I do. I get ideas and he encourages me to try it. He helped set up my studio and even created my ventilation system. I really could not pursue my artistic dreams without him.
Your lampwork set, pictured below, was voted bead of the week! Tell us about it! I really love the traditional Christmas reds & greens. Those colors really make me feel like celebrating the holidays. I just love making snowmen because I think they are so cute. With the Santa, I went through about 5 trials to get him just right. My friends tell me I’m too picky but, it has to be right or else they get tossed. This is also the first time I attempted presents and I’m really pleased with them. Overall, this was just a fun set to make.
